Description
A 30-minute weeknight hero with savory ground beef, aromatic garlic, tomato sauce, and a rich Parmesan-cream sauce all in one skillet. Perfectly seasoned and tossed with pasta for a hearty, comforting meal.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
3 cups penne or rotini pasta
1 medium onion, diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup beef broth
1 cup tomato sauce
1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter option)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (see notes for halal/vegan option)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
1 tbsp all-purpose flour (optional, to thicken sauce)
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add diced onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through.
Pour in beef broth and tomato sauce, stirring to combine. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
Add heavy cream and stir to incorporate, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly. Season with salt and pepper.
In a separate pot, cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
Stir cooked pasta into the skillet, coating it in the sauce. Alternatively, mix in flour to create a thicker sauce if desired.
Serve immediately, optionally garnished with additional Parmesan.
Notes
For a halal or vegan Parmesan alternative, use nutritional yeast or a store-bought vegan Parmesan.
If using half-and-half instead of heavy cream, reduce baking (if any) to retain moisture.
Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
